This is a beautiful site. After being in birth class together, and knowing you as about to be three, and of course, three (with lovely Kirian!), it is really interesting to read about the parts of your life pre-baby. I LOVE the engagement story! And your wedding - at Wilbur! How beautiful. Congratulations on it all. See you tomorrow :-) And Happy Bday Kirian!!!!

Joe Farmer gave me your website. I was Third Platoon leader under your father in '68-'69. I have often thought of your father, and have frequently spoken of his great leadership during my military career. He was a superb commander, and I have always countet myself fortunate to have seved under him. I am sorry to hear that he died.

    Alex,
Thank you for coming to St. Louis. It was a real pleasure and honor to meet you and your brothers. I really feel like I have known you all my life. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed meeting you and hearing about the side of your father we could not share with him. I hope you and your brothers will come to Reno next year and that you will be able to convince your mother to come also. Maybe if you tell her you finally met the guy who carries around a picture of your fgather it might peak her interest enough to get her to attend. I love your web page. One comment on the video from Kontum. The section that showed a person walking up a trail with a load on their back could very well be terrain your father and I walked on some 40 years ago. I have not gotten through all of your web page yet but i am working on it. Remember I am the one who is really computer illerate. I would like to meet your husband also. He sounds like just the kind of man your father would have wanted you to marry. Did Ralph send you his book yet?
    More later - your freind

    Alex
I'm so happy to hear from you and with such fun news of your adventures! I'm traveling with my own handsome fella at the moment as well! We started in Argentina just after New Years and have been to Grenada, Australia, Hong Kong, China, and soon to Sweden. Funny route, I know, but we've got good reasons for all our ports of call. Anyway, I'm so glad to see that you're well and happy and in love and I hope that we'll see each other again soon, one way or another ;)
    so much love,
    Geneva
p.s. May be moving back to the bay in the fall... will let you know!

Andreas Amundin (Wednesday, 12 March 2008)

I have read as far as Bolivia. I have meant to come back and read more but I believe my subconscious is fighting me on this. So far your trip just seems to be an amazing, once in a lifetime experience. The role of my subconscious in this saga is that of the antagonist preventing me from returning to read more. But alas that is just the superficial interpretation of the play that is my life. A deeper interpretation makes it clear that my subconscious is the protagonist in the sense it is just protecting myself from the envy of this incredible journey. Some now ask if Andreas really knows what antagonist and protagonist really means and if you can use them like this? Truly we don't know. Those who do know me by now realize that I am writing this while tired and it being late at night. Only sleep deprivation or drunkenness would induce such a tirade. So with this rambling I will leave you to contemplate other postings.

Can't wait to have you back in the Bay Area.

    Cheers, Andreas

    Hi Alex & Patrick,
How are you?? What a beautiful website! Patrick, we almost forgot you surfskills;).. But the video's are nice!! We are in Malawi, had fantastic 4 months in South America and now already 2 months in Africa. In 5 weeks we will land in Holland again. Enjoy the rest of your trip and we will read your website when we are at home. Internet is really slow here so it will take a while.

Hey you guys! WOW that was so great to read about and relive our adventures. I was so excited to see that video of us feeding the monkeys bananas. I was searching for the video where Patrick yells at Maria to clean off her boots and didn't find it though! We never found a better travel group through our whole trip. I truly loved meeting you two and hope to one day soon meet up again. OKTOBERFEST!
All the best wishes and love.

Wow, what a wonderful trip! I enjoyed reading your stories. I'd rush right out and go to the silent retreat in Thailand, though the part about the wooden pillow and concrete bed would be hard to manage. If you haven't read "Eat, Pray, Love" yet, I recommend it highly. Great book for travel, spiritual and romantic inspiration. Have fun! - Tara

WOW, amazing... content, design, and technology. CONGRATULATIONS. I scanned all of it first, and now i will take the next weeks to read it slowly. Feelings of awe, gratitude, and envy. I love the colors, the children, the silent retreat, the diary, and the fact that you are in good spirits alone and with each other, and looking forward to coming home. Can't wait. Did you get all the email addresses of the Looram Boys in Vietnam and Hong Kong? Patrick in Vietnam has a big house and would welcome you to stay with them, his mom says.
