About us
Sunset on Rapa Nui (Easter Island)
At the end of June 2007, with two bags weighing no more than 15 kilos each, we set out for a 9 month journey around the Pacific Ocean. Our apartment was rented, the car was stored, bills were on automatic payment and we'd said goodbye to friends and family - all that was left was ahead of us.
Our route, the Circle of Fire around the Pacific, gave us a rough idea of where we would go, though most of the travel was planned on the road. We had airplane tickets for the major distances, including the one at the end that would get us back home. We had two pre-planned dates (Galapagos and the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu), that set a structure for the otherwise spontaneous travel.
Our 9 month journey turned into 10 and this website is an attempt to remember and relive the many moments of joy, surprise, appreciation and acceptance that we experienced along the way. Perhaps it will inspire others to jump into the unknown.

And while we were gone, our home in San Francisco was well taken care of by the best renters we could have asked for. Our gratitude goes to Jeff and Adina for never giving us anything to worry about!
